They are 9, gifted designers and the future of Mediterranean fashion: here are the great winners of the MMMM 2016 contests!

What is MMMM ?

The Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM) reveals and unites since 1988 new creative talents in the Mediterranean. It supports through two competitions: Major M (for the creators of Marseille and its region) and the Mediterranean Fashion Prize (MFP) for Mediterranean creators. Last September 2016, Who’s Next’s theme was the Mediterranean and we offered MMMM the lighting of 9 of the winners in a space dedicated to them in the heart of the Porte de Versailles.

Charlotte Claire Rekassa

Charlotte Claire RekassaFashion designer Charlotte Rekassa, who graduated from ICC School in Marseilles in fashion design / pattern cutting and worked for the brand Sessùn, now signs a wardrobe of timeless womenswear pieces since 2014 under the label Charlotte Aire. A concept named “clothing & couture”, all about pure lines, carefully selected qualitative fabrics and special colours, mostly inspired by nature and the South of France lifestyle. Marie-Agnès AlbertiniMarie-Agnès AlbertiniMarie-Agnès Albertini graduated with a diploma in fashion design and garment prototyping from the IICC fashion school in 2006. She then continued her training with Pako Litto in the South of France, then in Paris at the Stella Cadente fashion studio. She created the label “Les Midinettes” in 2011, with clothing and dress codes inspired by a character she has been drawing since she was a child: a multi-coloured, mischievous, impish fairy tale universe for retro inspired collections. Melina CarbonaroMelina CarbonaroFrom being a notary public to a fashion designer, a real passion for Melina Carbonaro who in 2014 created the feminine universe of Mademoiselle Socialite. Lifestyle and ready-to-wear collections in a mix of effortless chic French clothing and dress codes, with Dolce vita glamour. A complete label range with success in Aix-en-Provence, a city known for its French style Art of living, and cultural scene. More info…

Jina Luciani

Fashion designer Jina Luciani, who graduated from FIT in New York and Esmod wanted to launch her own sustainable lingerie line since 2006. Always looking for a feminine daily style, she launched Occidente, a lingerie/lounge/yogawear label manufactured in Côte d’Azur in feather light jersey and organic cotton fur. A promising start in France and foreign countries supporting ethical and aesthetical conscious choices. More info…


Isabelle LetoucheIsabelle LetoucheKodd[e]s is a leather goods label based in Aix-en-Provence making luxury bags and accessories in exotic leathers, created in 2010 by Isabelle Letouche. Each piece is beautifully made in a limited, numbered edition, handmade by selected South African craftsmen specialising in rare skins and leathers: Ostrich, Springbok hides, Nguni and Kudu hides, leathers with a patina. Bérangère PerretBérangère PerretBack from a road-trip in South America, Bérangère Perret decided to launch the shoes line Espigas in 2010. Inspired by the Argentinian gauchos’ espadrilles called “alpargatas”, the shoes are all double cotton-lined, genuinely comfortable and light to wear as well as twisted with South of France emblematic colours. Design, comfort, solidarity (part of the profit is donated to an NGO) and a “Choose freedom” lifestyle dimension to which concept-stores and interior design stockists really respond to. More info…

Winners of the MFP 2016 contest

Ghitta LaskrouifGhitta LaskrouifWith an artistic background, Ghitta Laskrouif started very soon developping high-embroidery techniques. After her participation in workshops at Casa Moda Academy (AMC Mode), she presents her collections, refined and vitamined, druing Casablanca fashion week. Her fine ready-to-wear collections, at the intercross of tradition and modernity, are crafted with Moroccan artisanal know-how. A very personal approach, undertaken with sustainable fashion perspectives.


Günseli TürkayGünseli TürkayAfter graduating in Fashion Design from Accademia Italiana in Florence, fashion deisgner Günseli Türkay started consulting for Pasaj Agency in Istanbul, before launching her own label, now introduced via multi-brand boutiques Beymen. She was awarded 1str Young Fashion Entrepreneur Prize in Turkey, in partnership with the British Fashion Council. Colour variations are a constant in her work and all her collections echo a sense of subtle elegance and artisanal craftsmanship. She currently develops a theme of historical Mediterranean embroideries.


Sara MelkiSara MelkiAfter graduating from Studio Berçot in Paris, following her studies at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts (ALBA), fashion designer Sara Melki gained experience in fashion deisgn at the studios from the likes of Isabel Marant, Martine Sitbon and Proenza Schouler in New York. Her work is an ultra modern mix of ethnical influences. She brings a new dimension to technical knit producing them in collaboration with ateliers Mahlia Kent, exclusive weavers of Chanel. Her looks are very easy to wear, yet show fierce couture details.
